WHERE "HAIL MARY" COMES FROM
December 28, 1975, playoffs. Dallas was losing, 24 seconds left and 50 yards to cover — practically no chance. Staubach closed his eyes, said a Hail Mary, and threw the ball as far as he could. Pearson caught it in the end zone. The first Hail Mary in NFL history.
